Abstract
Infra-red chemiluminescence from the reaction between atomic oxygen and carbon disulphide arises almost entirely from vibrationally excited CO. Evidence is presented which demonstrates conclusively that CO is excited in the reaction; O + CS →CO + S; the rate constant for this reaction at room temperature is estimated to be 1.4 × 10–11 cm3 molecule–1 s–1.Keywords
