Abstract
We present a new Ansatz for the quark mass matrices, in which the correct Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix is obtained for an arbitrarily large value of the top-quark mass. Our Ansatz predicts and . The first prediction is close to the accepted lower bound; the second one may be tested in the near future.
