Abstract
Bacteriostasis in B. stearothermophilus induced by "roccal" (alkyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride) is a gradual process; distinct areas of normal growth, reduced growth, abnormal growth, and no growth are seen. B. megaterium, when killed by this disinfectant, shows 3 important changes, viz., degeneration of the cytoplasmic membrane, extrusion of the cytoplasm, and a deterioration of the cell wall in which all rigidity and tensile strength are lost. Keywords
