The Delphi survey technique was used with a panel of nurse specialists in maternal child health and nurse administrators to elicit their ideas for curriculum planning. Role components identified include: change and the change process, research and the research process, clinical judgment and hands-on practice, grant writing, and management and leadership. Topics ranked as high priority include: consultation; conflict resolution; leadership and management styles; conduct, interpretation, dissemination, and application of research; hands-on expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of human response patterns; and quality assurance and evaluation of practice. © Williams & Wilkins 1990.
