Abstract
A low-voltage diffraction-type modulator using multireflection of the optical beam off the crystal-electrode interface is discussed. Experimental observations with a double-reflection modulator gives 50% reduction of the zero-order extinction voltage. This approach could be extended to give a further reduction in the operating voltage.Keywords
