Recovery of C. burnetii from H. savignyi Collected in Spain

Abstract
Four live specimens of Hyalomma savignyi and 12 dead ones collected from a sheep in Boheda, Prov. of Salamanca, Spain, were received by the Rocky Mt. Laboratory on May 1, 1949. Strains of Coxiella burnetii were recovered by inoculation of guinea pigs. This is the first proof of the occurrence of C. burnetii in Spain.
