Abstract
It is shown that to each electronic‐vibrational band (the band width is 8 to 10 cm−1, T = 4.2°K) in the exciton luminescence (eigenluminescence) spectrum of a free anthracene single crystal there are corresponding doublets in the luminescence spectrum of thermally deformed monocrystalline films of anthracene (T = 4.2°K). One doublet component is polarized along the crystallographic axis b, and the other in the ac‐plane. Splitting of all electronic‐vibrational bands is ≈ 30 cm−1. It is assumed that it is possible to “induce” Davydov splitting of electronic‐vibrational bands in the luminescence spectrum of deformed anthracene crystals by thermal deformation. Keywords
