Abstract
Experimental lens-induced granulomatous endophthalmitis is a clearly defined stage in a spectrum of inflammatory reactions that develop after lens injury in animals previously sensitized to lens protein. In the present report, rats hypersensitized to heterologous lens protein developed a massive Arthus-type panophthalmitis after lens injury. The development of the panophthalmitis and its relationship to the level of sensitization and to the typical experimental lens-induced granulomatous endophthalmitis (ELGE) are discussed. Keywords
