Abstract
A model is proposed and tested that yields a theoretical leaching curve for the extraction of values from a finely ground ore. The model assumes that small particles follow the eddy currents in an agitated reactor and behave as if they were surrounded by a rigid medium. The leaching curve is obtained by writing the differential equation for diffusion, determining the extent of dissolution for selected times, and multiplying by a particle size distribution function. The results are consistent with experiment, and some essential conclusions are drawn that bear on the design of leaching circuits. Keywords
