Abstract
Residual urine volume in the bladder was measured using a gamma camera and Tc-99m DTPA labeling of the urine and was compared to urethral catheterization in 21 male patients. The results of the radionuclide method did not differ significantly from the catheterization (P < 0.001) and a good correlation was found between the two methods (r = 0.98). The results suggest that the simple, safe radionuclide method may be used instead of catheterization to measure residual urine volume in the bladder. Keywords
