Abstract
This paper treats work variety as a subjective variable rather than an objective attribute of work. The results of several industrial experiments are outlined in presenting a method for measuring perceived variety in terms of a psycho-physical function. A null finding is reported concerning the relationship between variety and work performance. Keywords
