Abstract
Flowers produced by both grafted and seedling trees of the white sapote were found to be structurally hermaphroditic. Anthers in the Dade and Blumenthal vars. differed markedly in appearance from those in other vars. and seedlings studied and contained no normal pollen grains. The other vars. and seedlings were found to produce an abundance of spheroidal pollen grains. Total or partial pollen-sterility may be one factor responsible for the failure of some white sapotes to set a good crop of fruit.
