Abstract
Some cases of central and branch retinal vein occlusion are associated with and may be caused by abnormal fibrinolytic mechanisms. The abnormality described is that of plasminogen activator enzyme deficiency, a treatable condition. That 7 cases were seen by 1 practitioner in a 2 yr period may indicate that this particular condition is under-recognized. Included in this study are patients with diabetes mellitus. Keywords
