Abstract
Guinea pigs were infected with Rocky Mt. spotted fever. They were given 2 g. of p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) per i00 g. of high protein feed ad lib. either 24 hrs. prior to infection or 24, 48 and 72 hrs. thereafter. This feed was continued for 7 to 10 days. Out of 12 animals in which PABA intake preceded the disease injn., 7 remained afebrile and 2 died. Out of 17 treated with PABA after injn., 11 remained afebrile and 3 died. In the majority visible symptoms were entirely absent. Keywords
