Abstract
Microscopic examination of stomach contents of field mice and voles trapped in Saskatchewan and Manitoba has revealed an interesting association between spores of Endogone and those of a basidiomycete, Melanogaster variegatus. The same association of spores was also found in soil samples taken from widely separated sites in these provinces and in northern Ontario. It is suggested that Endogone, which is a mucorine fungus, parasitizes Melanogaster and that finding Endogone spores in rodent stomach contents is probably due to their having been ingested together with Melanogaster. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
