Abstract
A j-j coupling shell model of nucleus is proposed. The theory of j-j coupling in nuclei is developed. By making use of this extended theory about spin eigenfunctions in j-j coupling, nuclear magnetic moments are calculated, and the results are in agreement with experiments. The data on β-decay are also consistent with the present j-j coupling shell model. Keywords
