Abstract
When corn seedlings, previously depleted in soluble nitrogen constituents, are forced to absorb large quantities of ammonium nitrogen, soluble compounds accumulate in the sap. Asparagine, glutamine, one or more amino acids and undetermined compounds are synthesized. Ammonia does not accumulate until these constituents have reached a relatively high level.Keywords
