Abstract
Severely injuring muscle tissue of a rabbit by mechanical means induces the formation of a leukotaxine-like substance which has essentially the biological attributes of leukotaxine as obtained from inflammatory exudates. The fractions of leukotaxine-like material induce an increase in capillary permeability and cause leukocytic migration. The isolated guinea pig intestine fails to contract when treated with these fractions, while histamine added subsequently contracts the segment. This would indicate that the leukotaxine-like fractions obtained do not appear to be histamine. Keywords
