Abstract
A theory for the dynamic elasto-plastic deformations of thin shells is presented. The deformation is obtained by equating the energy input to the energy absorbed by the structure. Large deflections and strain hardening are considered. The theory is applied to the case of a shell undergoing axially symmetric collapse. Keywords
