Abstract
Aspen (Populustremuloides Michx.) root cuttings collected in June, when endogenous auxin levels are high, were treated with α-(p-chlorophenoxy)isobutyric acid (CPIBA), an apparent antiauxin, to determine the effect on subsequent sucker development. CPIBA relieved auxin inhibition in the excised roots and thus increased the number of suckers produced on each root.
