Abstract
Summary 1. The autopsy findings on a case of Chagas' disease in a 77-year-old black Panamanian are presented. The cause of death was acute trypanosomal myocarditis terminating in failure of the myocardium. 2. Leishmania forms of Schizotrypanum cruzi were found in the heart, brain and prostate. The important parasitic lesions were confined to the heart and midbrain. 3. This is the first fatal case of Chagas' disease found in an adult Panamanian and indicates that in Panama, as elsewhere, the effects of this disease may be serious in adults as well as in infants. Keywords
