Abstract
The male boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis Boheman, produces a complex of monoterpenoids (a pheromone) that has both sexual and aggregating activity (Tumlinson et al. 1969). However, to produce the pheromone complex, the male must feed continually, preferably on cotton buds, which contain compounds that are modified in the gut and then voided with the fecal material (Hardee 1970). We evaluated the effect of homogenates of boll weevils on a monoterpene compound, the common intermediate, geraniol. Keywords
