Abstract

The two-allele leucocyte group system 4^a4^b has been tentatively tested for its influence on histocompatibility. In one individual homozygous for leucocyte antigen 4^b, a relatively low incidence of other leucocyte group incompatibilities permitted a fairly reliable assessment of the importance of 4^a4^b group compatibility in skin homograft survival. Grafts obtained from four “compatible” 4^b4^b donors appeared to survive longer than grafts obtained from four “incompatible” 4^a4^a subjects.
