Abstract
One hundred sixty-eight women, most of them 40-year-old mothers, were tested on the 16 PF Questionnaire as part of a group counseling class to help them find new life goals. Scores revealed they were highly intelligent and creative as compared with the standard for adult women. Factor direction suggested that self-renewing women as a group might be described as “self-sufficient extroverts,” in contrast with Cattell's description of creative people as “self-sufficient introverts.” Mental health scores were average in relation to the general population and above average in relation to other comparison groups. It was concluded that self-renewing women function within a productive range of psychological health. Keywords
