Abstract
IN 1939 Wegner and I1 and again in 1943 I2 made the statement that "Every discussion of any level of any spinal cord injury should be based on two fundamental concepts. These are that spinal cord injuries are different from spinal column injuries without spinal cord involvement, and that all significant spinal cord injuries are accompanied by spinal shock and its effects." This was on the basis of experience with 101 cervical-cord injuries. Now, sixteen years later and with my experience with such injuries more than tripled, this statement can be reaffirmed without the change of a word. The implications . . .Keywords
