Abstract
11 spp. of Propionibacterium (Orla-Jensen, 1909) are differentiated and described on the basis of the physiological, serological and morphological behavior of 30 strains, and a key to the spp. is given. 3 subgeneric groups are differentiated serologically, with 2 spp., P. zeae and P. rubrum, distinct from either of the 3 subgroups. P. arabinosum, being catalase-negative, the generic diagnosis is modified to include this spp. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
