Abstract
Irradiation of vitreous silica containing dissolved deuterium gas results in the isotope exchange of hydrogen and deuterium at hydroxyl sites in the glass. This exchange process was studied as a function of dose, dissolved deuterium concentration, and the initial hydroxyl concentration of the specimen. Vitreous silica which did not initially contain any hydroxyl was observed to form considerable quantities of deuteroxyl during irradiation. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
