Abstract
The use of neomycin topically in the treatment of superficial infections of the skin and orally in the preoperative preparation of the bowel has been increasing steadily as the proportion of organisms resistant to other absorbable and less toxic antibiotics has mounted. The small amounts of neomycin required for topical use on the skin, its poor absorption from the lumen of the intestinal tract, the broad spectrum of its antibacterial action, the relative infrequency of neomycin-resistant strains, the low sensitizing potential of this antibiotic and the fact that it is not likely to be used systemically all combine to make . . .Keywords
