Abstract
Some properties of the power transfer between three coupled optical waveguides are discussed theoretically. It is shown that high-efficiency coupling is obtained when the effective propagation constants of the strong coupled two waveguides, which are proportional to the rms value of the coupling coefficient and the phase mismatching of the two-waveguide system, are equal to the propagation constant of the weakly coupled third waveguide. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
