Abstract
Of 16 patients with periodic paralysis in Hawaii, 10 were found to also have hyperthyroidism. All 10 patients with thyrotoxic periodic paralysis were males, and 9 were of Japanese ancestry. This latter finding supports previous reports that thyrotoxic periodic paralysis has a predilection for the Japanese. Keywords
