Abstract
A study of 299 university scientists and engineers indicated that half claimed ideas for commercial products and services, but that only one-third of these had attempted any form of idea utilization. Experience and a background in development (as distinct from research) enhance the likelihood of generating ideas. Idea utilization is retarded by lack of attention by the idea generators and by lack of familiarity with the markets. Keywords
