Abstract
Collisional detachment in oxygen was studied for pressures of about 20-60 Torr and with mass analysis which also allowed conversion rates to be calculated. For O-, delta 1/N (detachment coefficient/gas density) was found to be about 5*10-18 cm2 at E/N (field strength/gas density) of about 50 Td where for O2 -, delta 2/N approximately 1*10-18 cm2. The need for an accurate measurement of the conversion rate for O- to O2 - is emphasized. Keywords
