Abstract
A partially fertile pentaploid hybrid has been obtained from a cross between allohexaploid (Hordeum depressum X H. compressum) and autotetraploid "Svalof" rye (Secale cereale). The F1 hybrid was intermediate between the parents in most morphological characteristics with the BC1 plants more closely resembling the rye parent. Cytological observations through various chromosome associations indicated that some homology existed between the chromosomes of the two parents.
