Abstract
It has been previously reported that the addition of 2% K2HPO4 to a diet predisposing to the formation of urinary calculi in sheep, further increased the incidence of stones. The addition of 10% level of NaCl to these diets, even when containing K and phosphate in the form of K2HPO4 entirely prevented lithiasis. Several possible explanations for this action of NaCl are advanced. Keywords
