Abstract
Guidelines for measuring and reporting environmental factors in a growth chamber and other controlled environment studies of plant growth are listed. These guidelines were developed by researchers on the North Central Regional Committee NCR-101 on Growth Chamber Use concerned with the use of controlled environment facilities for plant research. The most common fault encountered in the use of growth chambers is the failure to adequately characterize and report the environmental factors which directly affect the plants growing in the chambers. Detailed and complete measurements are necessary because differences in growth chamber design and maintenance, surrounding environmental conditions and plant cultural practices result in differences in environmental factors which may affect experimental results.
