Nonlinear Excitation of Surface Polaritons

Abstract
We show that nonlinear excitation of surface-polariton waves by optical mixing should be possible. The excited surface waves can be easily detected by either the prism-coupling method or coherent scattering from wave mixing. Practical numerical examples are given.Keywords
