Abstract
Diamond powder was synthesized by the plasma CVD method for the first time in the world. Acetylene (C2H2) and hydrogen (H2) gases were used for starting materials. The arc plasma with these gases was led onto the quenching disk and the plasma was rapidly quenched. A gray powder was deposited on the inner wall around the quenching disk. The powder consisted of spherical particles and was confirmed to be a cubic diamond with a little amorphous carbon according to Raman spectra and X-ray diffraction. Keywords
