Abstract
Experimental determinations of the number distribution of secondary electrons from certain alkali halides using electron primaries with energies in the range of a few hundred to a few thousand eV are compared with Monte Carlo computations. In particular, the prediction of an anomalous distribution for CsI is strikingly verified experimentally. The general implications for pulse height distributions in certain photomultipliers is discussed. Keywords
