Abstract
A versatile, transportable cryostat system for irradiation at liquid helium temperature and measurements by optical spectroscopy in transmission and reflectance in the temperature range from 5 to 470 K is described. The optical window plug can be removed during irradiation in order to avoid coloring of the windows due to scattered particles or bremsstrahlung. Keywords
