Abstract
Chemisorption processes lead to interactions between electrons in the chemisorbed molecules and the electronic structure of the solid. Resulting electronic boundary layer phenomena are closely analogous to those studied in rectifier theory. Analysis by the methods of rectifier theory explains the variation of heat of adsorption with the amount adsorbed, gives the temperature dependence of chemisorption, and yields the increase of activation energy with frequency factor commonly observed in catalysis. Keywords
