Über blutgerinnungshemmende Substanzen

Abstract
Among the sulfuric acid esters of polymeric-homologous series, those of unbranched celluloses and polyvinyl alcohols are very effective in checking blood-coagulation, whereas the branched starch and spheric glycogen-esters were far less, or not at all effective. In unbranched products, checking effect decreases little, toxic-ity increases essentially with increasing mol. wt. The greatest effect and least toxicity occur in filiform molecules with polymerization of 20-80 degrees. Xylansulfuric acid ester proved a highly effective and nearly atoxic substance, already applied successfully in acute thrombosis.
