Abstract
A 16 channel optical add/drop multiplexer with temperature independent operation has been fabricated using planar lightwave circuit technology. The device consists of two athermal arrayed waveguide gratings and double-gate thermo-optic switches. The crosstalk from its main input port to main output port is better than –35 dB with a fibre-to-fibre insertion loss of better than 12 dB over a temperature range of 10–80°C.Keywords
