ORAL ATROPINE AND PRACTOLOL PREMEDICATION IN DENTAL ANAESTHESIA

Abstract
A double-blind controlled trial of practolol and atropine premedication in dental anaesthesia was carried out to determine the effects of small doses of these agents on the incidence of abnormalities of cardiac rhythm and to assess the aetiological role of cate-cholamines in their production. A worthwhile effect was produced by practolol but not by atropine. The aetiological role of catecholamines is discussed in the light of these findings.
