Abstract
In the spring Lorryia sp. were attracted to black scale on citrus trees. They fed on honeydew secreted by the scale and on fungus which develops on the honeydew. In May the mites migrated to neighboring trees. In July they began to oviposit on the young fruit. All stages fed on the young fruit. The feeding injury resulted in a ring of dead, brown tissue which enlarged as the fruit grew. This damage was similar to that caused by thrips. Notes are given on habits and life history. Sulfur dust applied in the spring is recommended for control. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
