Abstract
Singapore has experienced a unique and exceptional achievement in public housing during its transformation from a less developed to a newly industrialized country. This article explains and reviews this achievement. One aspect of interest is the unconventional way Singapore has conceived and operated its political economy of housing. Singaporean housing practice has established some valuable principles and "theory" in a comparatively successful development of policy and welfare in housing. Keywords
