Factors influencing the metabolie availability of ascorbic acid

Abstract
Ascorbic acid (AA) is an essential vitamin (C) and is found in all plant and animal tissues. All plants and most animals, except for guinea pigs, fishes, insects, a few birds native to India, and primates, are able to synthesize their own AA. Lack of the vitamin in those species unable to synthesize it leads to the clinical state of scurvy with all its pathological and bioehemieal abnormalities.
