Abstract
Advances in ventilation therapy that have permitted survival of many otherwise doomed newborns have also created the hazard of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Through correlation of radiographic and cytologic studies, the authors have defined this new syndrome as a dose-related consequence of high-oxygen treatment and suggest that lowered O2 concentrations can diminish the risk while preserving the benefits of therapy. Keywords
