Abstract
The author evaluates the possibility that stable isotopes under certain conditions can form ordered distributions. It is argued that all the basic ingredients that lead to the spontaneous ordering of impurities or voids are present in the isotopic case as well. Therefore, the search for positional isotopic correlations and 'isotopic superlattices' is a meaningful task. Keywords
