Abstract
Patients suspected of having contact dermatitis due to topical medicaments were patch tested with various bases to evaluate the most suitable base for tropical countries. Plastibase and polyethylene glycol 400 produced the least positive reactions. Both were therefore found to be suitable bases, although polyethylene glycol had more positive results than plastibase. Keywords
