Abstract
Subsolidus phase equilibria have been investigated in the ternary systems LiO0.5–NdO1.5–GeO2 (L-N-G) and –SiO2 (L-N-S). Various ternary compounds were found: 13/1/4 (γ), 3/1/1 (ε), 1/9/6 (β) and 10/5/6 (α, incongruent) in L-N-G, and 13/1/4 (δS) and βS s.s. (between 1/9/6 (βS) and 0/4/3 (β'S)) in L-N-S. The solid-state reactions of some of these compounds were examined as well as those of the related binary compounds, especially 3/4 (σ) and (probably) 3/5 (τ) in the LiO0.5–GeO2 system. Appreciable fluorescence activity was detected in γ in L-N-G.Keywords
